‘Algonquin Life’ Magazine Shares Our Love Story in 2023 Edition

As we approach our first wedding anniversary this August, we are thrilled to be featured in a six page spread in the 2023 edition of ‘Algonquin Life’ magazine about the whirlwind that has been our story — the path that led us North, to photography and to each other.

We recount our early beginnings and future plans in the article with penman, Rory MacKay, a dear friend, author, historian and seasonal naturalist whose expertise on Algonquin Park is legendary.

Side bar: For those looking to learn more about the history of Algonquin Park, pick up a copy of Rory’s book Algonquin Park - A Place Like No Other.

From the red sands of Prince Edward Island to the wildlife-rich savannahs of South Africa, our feet have found us in some of the most renowned landscapes in the world over the last five years of our relationship.

We’ve uprooted our lives — going from bustling cities to the quiet of rural living, and embarked on an uphill entrepreneurial journey.

We've faced 60km/h winds, torrential downpours, unforgiving insects, frigid temperatures and unfortunate farmer tans in the pursuit of our art.

All of which have tested us, motivated us and reaffirmed our dedication to creativity, conservation and staying true to our playful hearts.

Despite our love of travel and experiencing new cultures, Algonquin Park will always be home. It’s in Algonquin that we found each other — our first date location and subsequently where we became engaged and married!

Consider this article our love letter to Algonquin.

Even after all of this time, we’re still mesmerized by the vastness of Algonquin, which we coin our ‘playground.’

We love it all: Spring canoe trips in search of majestic Moose, listening to the serene song of a loon reclaiming the lake, summertime paddle boarding across clear waters, Autumn backpacking in peak leaf-changing season and eating maple taffy from a fresh blanket of snow.

What’s not to love about Algonquin?
